"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the LORD." Isaiah 55:8

Even though this passage speaks of God's grace...it reminds me that when I think I know what's best, I really need to fall on my face and surrender my will to His.

Whole Foods for the Family

After grocery shopping the other day, I glanced over to the pile of fruit on our counter, and it looked so pretty that I had to take a picture. If you can believe it, we will eat that whole pile and more in only 4 days :o). Our family sticks mainly to eating whole foods (meals made from scratch with foods closest to their natural state, minimally processed). It seems that with times as they are and lifestyles going so fast and busy, people have gravitated to convenience and lost the desire to prepare wholesome food for their families. So in the next few days I will be posting several of our family's favorite recipes for baked goods that have no refined sugar or dairy in them. We love to bake muffins in the morning for breakfast and then snack on the "left overs" all day long :o)...fast, convenient, wholesome snack for the children. Post soon :o) C.

Christina,

I'm curious how you use the beautiful fruit in your picture, do you juice a lot of it or just eat it as is? Also, how many dc do you have? (wondering since you said your family would eat all that fruit in 4 days).

Hi Pam,
Thanks for stopping by :o). We juice the oranges and make our smoothies in the morning. The other fruit is eaten throughout each day as is. We allow our 4 children (dd 11, ds 8, dd 5, dd 1) unlimited access to fruit, nuts and left over muffins from breakfast. This way I am sure they are eating when their bodies are hungry, not when mine is :o). I am always amazed at how much they eat, what they choose and when they get hungry. It is also liberating because I don't have to spend every waking moment in the kitchen (lol).

Thanks for your reply Christina! My dc love fruit too, in fact I have a hard time keeping it in the house. That's one of my problems....getting to the store often enough. What kind of nuts do you keep on hand for them to snack on?
